"CONSUMERS FACE HIGHER INTERNET PRICES AND FEWER CHOICES UNDER TODAY’S FCC BROADBAND DEREGULATION DECISION" - Consumers Union - 10/14/2004 |

New Senate Legislation Takes Aim at Eliminating Broadband Choice!
On July 27, Senator John Ensign (R-NV) introduced legislation co-sponsored by Senator John McCain (R-AZ) to hoping to update U.S. communications laws.
What could this mean for Americans' nationwide? A murky information future with limited, one-size-fits-all products and service offerings from a limited choice of providers. Click here to demonstrate your opposition to the Broadband Investment and Consumer Choice Act of 2005!
By derailing vigorous, cross-platform competition that has enhanced consumer choices… this legislation moves boldly undermines decade-old policies that have driven the US forward in telecommunication and barely acknowledges the existence of the Internet.
If only a few telecom providers are permitted to exist and competition is vigorously denied, consumers will see the downturn of economic growth, hundreds of thousands of jobs will be lost and an array of innovative voice, innovative video and Internet choices will never be enjoyed. The potential of modern telecom reform is possible!
This Information Age belongs to all Americans and we caution Senator Ensign's leadership to weigh the national consequence of such a proposal.
